Fixing things together
Repair Café International Foundation (Netherlands)
“You begin to realise that you can solve problems with your own hands. It is this mindset that we need for a sustainable future.”
Martine Postma,
 Founder and Director

Repair Café is a global movement started by Martine Postma, a dedicated journalist and advocate for sustainability. Martine’s passion for the environment led her to create Repair Café in 2009, when she saw almost new items gathering in the rubbish. With almost 3,000 local Repair Cafés in over 40 countries, the free meetings empower communities to repair broken items together. At a Repair Café, participants find a well-equipped space with tools and materials for making repairs on clothes, furniture, electrical appliances, bicycles, toys, and more. Skilled expert volunteers from various fields are there to guide them through the process. It’s a place of ongoing learning, where visitors can bring their broken items and collaborate with specialists. But Repair Café is not just about fixing things; it’s about building a sustainable future together, one repair at a time.
