Turning municipal waste into resources
Head of Separate Collection Promotion of Circular Economy Area Catalonia Waste Agency, Generalitat de Catalunya
“If we want to change the word, we have to start by changing our own footprint.”
A chemical and industrial engineer with an MBA, Teresa Guerrero has a long professional experience in waste management. Starting in the industrial sector and moving to the municipal sector in the last few years, she works with high efficiency teams to drive the improvement of municipal waste management.
Passionate about innovation as a driver for change, she is involved in innovative European projects related to bio-waste and fair environmental taxation that empower local authorities through innovative public procurement systems.
She is currently working on rethinking the municipal waste taxation system and improving municipal waste governance. In a true circular economy approach, she does this through an innovative model of motivating citizens and economic activities based on the combination of a fair payment system and an awareness of the impact of our behaviour in converting waste into resources.
