WASTE

Karme Martinez

Fashion transformer

CEO and Creative Director of BeKarme

“I am part of a generation of designers who only understand their profession if it goes hand in hand with climate activism and conscious consumption, upcycling the ability to transform materials considered waste into design products with added value.”

Karme Martinez Baiges works to make a better world through sustainable fashion. She is CEO and Creative Director of BeKarme, a fashion brand that rescues clothes that were going to pollute the planet, to make unique pieces. They design capsule collections with “second hand” pieces and high-quality fabric remnants, and in this way they absorb a large part of the textile waste that is generated. Additionally, cut-offs from the collection are converted into accessories, thus achieving a “zero waste” result. Made to measure, it is a service that gives a second life to people’s garments.
