Chief inventor
Artist, designer and founder of Little Inventors
“The world has many problems and challenges and we need a lot more inventive thinkers to solve those problems…To take children’s ideas seriously, I think it really gives them the self-confidence to keep on going inventing.”
Since 2015, artist and designer Dominic Wilcox has been on a mission to inspire children to become the creative thinkers of the future. His organisation, Little Inventors, sets inventive challenges on themes such as the ocean, food waste and climate change, and invites skilled makers and designers to bring the most inspiring ideas to life. Over 20,000 young people’s ideas have been uploaded, and children’s inventions have been shown everywhere from the Triennale in Milan to the International Space Station. Five inventions made real have been collected by London’s V&A museum, and there are now four Little Inventors books published by Harper Collins to inspire Little Inventors at home.
