BLUE PLANET

Andrea Castaño

Engineer for the planet

Chemical engineer and Climate Action Project Manager at Aigües de Barcelona

“We need new formulas that allow us to redefine the way we live. Climate action needs to be accelerated and to do so it is essential to work collaboratively, disseminate knowledge and facilitate climate action in our environment.”

A chemical engineer committed to the planet, Andrea Castaño’s personal and professional aspirations have always been aligned with the fight against climate change. This started in 2016 when she co-founded the Zero Waste Barcelona Network, a non-profit association that promoted the reduction of waste and positive change in Barcelona through education and community engagement. She is now the Climate Action Project Manager of Aigües de Barcelona, working in the areas of neutrality, circular economy and climate engagement. She also recently finished an executive programme on leadership in the strategic integration of the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs in organisations. At heart, she will always be an activist.
